Update
Hey there, sorry for the lack of updates. I have been busy with work and everything else going on lately. I have also begun to design my own website layout from scratch for the first time, so it is taking some time but I think it is coming along well (you can check it out at ). Anyways, I plan to start actually posting about music again soon so check back often! Cya.

Will Hoge "Love From A Scar"
I recently heard about an artist by the name of Will Hoge. He just released a new live LP called Again Somewhere Tomorrow. He is the epitome of a rock musician with a gritty sound and a free spirit. Check out more of his music at his Virb page and the song at his MySpace page.

Andy Davis "Good Life"
Wow, I just heard of this new artist yesterday and am already a huge fan. He has a great sound and also has a song all about Chicago! It's nice to hear him sing about places all around where I live. The song called "Chicago, City of Shoulders" can be found on his MySpace page but his newer song "Good Life" can be found on Virb, which is much better for finding and listening to good music than MySpace. I don't really know who to compare him to, but just take a listen and make up your own mind! I'll post again on Monday, have a great weekend.

Ray LaMontagne "You Can Bring Me Flowers"
From his latest album Till The Sun Turns Black, "You Can Bring Me Flowers" is a great introduction to the rough acoustic sound of Ray LaMontagne. Ray's music is a mixture of heavy blues and folk acoustic that is really moving to listen to. Check it out at MySpace.

Paolo Nutini "New Shoes"
Paolo Nutini sounds older than his years on his debut album These Streets. This young Scottish singer/songwriter was influenced by such diverse artists as John Martyn, Van Morrison, Ray Charles and The Drifters, who is playing sold-out headline shows across the UK based on positive word-of-mouth and press support. Stand out tracks include 'Jenny Don't Be Hasty', 'Last Request' and 'New Shoes'. As always, check out his MySpace page to hear what he's all about.

The Shins "Phantom Limb"
The Shins new album "Wincing The Night Away" is one of my favorite new albums. There sound is very unique and makes me want to move to California, surf all day and listen to their music. Anyways, enjoy the music and let me know if you have any requests or recommendations for new artists. You can just email me. Thanks!

Hellogoodbye "Oh, It Is Love"
I first heard an acoustic version of this song and thought it was a great, feel good song. Now that they have released their uniquely titled album, "Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs" the studio version is even better. Check it out.

Rocco Deluca "Colorful"
Rocco DeLuca's first release on Ironworks. Produced by Jude Cole and backed by some of LA's premier studio musicians. Rocco plays and sings a stunning array of his compositions that have been stirring a buzz on the LA scene for the last year. In my opinion this pop/rock sound is better than most you will hear on big name labels. My current favorite is "Colorful," but "How Fast," and "Gravitate" are also on every playlist I make. Take a listen!

Good Charlotte "The River"
Good Charlotte's latest album Good Morning Revival, departs from the normal punk sound in exchange for mainstream ballad and bandstand rock tracks. Don't let their multiple tattoos and piercings fool you, this group is not your average "pretend to be disturbed and angry when you are actually from a nice family in the suburbs" group, they actually have talent! Check it out at their MySpace page.

Gym Class Heroes "Cupid's Chokehold"
Man, this song just blew me away when I first heard it. A mix of rap and rock make this group a refreshing change from some of the other groups out there. The best part about this song is the mention of pancakes, which are delicious. Anyways, as always check out their MySpace page and also look at the video for the single.

His music has an acoustic base with hints of spoken word. He is signed to Aware/Columbia Records. In addition to singing, he also plays guitar, piano and harmonica. Ben Folds "Landed"
Though not his most recent release or album, Ben Fold's "Landed" from the album Songs For Silverman is a great song that brings out Fold's signature alternative pop sound. The song is great for anyone that feels or has felt what it is like to be in a stalled relationship. Though sometimes he uses vulgar language, he manages to wrap them in a fun, upbeat sound that could find it's way into a Disney movie...Check it out.

Joe Purdy "I Love The Rain The Most"
Joe Purdy is a North American based folk singer-songwriter. He has released five albums to date, Stompingrounds, Julie Blue, Only Four Seasons, You Can Tell Georgia, and Paris In The Morning. His first two albums, Joe Purdy and Sessions from Motor Ave. were not released for public sale. His song, 'Wash Away (Reprise)', was featured on the hit ABC TV series, Lost, where it has become, in the minds of viewers, indissoluble with the show, while Grey's Anatomy additionally featured 'I Love the Rain the Most,' 'The City,' 'Far Away Blues,' 'Suitcase', and 'Can't Get It Right Today.' Enjoy his music on MySpace and check out iTunes for more.

James Morrison "Wonderful World"
From his debut US album Undiscovered, James Morrison brings his guitar blues to the States. With his soulful sound you can tell he really believes in what he is singing and this is especially apparent in songs like "Wondeful World" and "Better Man". Check out his MySpace page and hear for yourself.

Landon Pigg "Can't Let Go"
Landon Pigg, a Nashville, Tennessee native, moved to Chicago as a kid. Eventually he would return to his hometown to pursue music and he has just released his first album LP. His website (www.landonpigg.com) is hilarious and show off his unique sense of humor and style. Check out his songs on iTunes and also preview them on his MySpace page.

Josh Kelley "Just Say The Word"
"Just Say The Word" by Josh Kelley is a romantic song so it is only right that it be the song for Valentine's Day. The guy has a really cool voice and his songs, while mostly pop, have a rock side to them as well. Apparently the guy is dating Katherine Heigl from Grey's Anatomy which isn't too bad either. His sound would fall somewhere between John Mayer, Maroon 5, and Jason Mraz though he brings some of his own character to the table as well. He earned some well-earned credibility by playing with the Dave Matthews Band when he was starting out. I highly recommend any of his songs including "Amost Honest" and "Walk Fast". Check out his song on MySpace.

The Midway State
The first group I wanted to showcase is called The Midway State from Toronto, Ontario Canada. The song I have chosen from them is called "Unaware" and you can hear the full song at their MySpace site as well as find out more information about the group and listen to other songs. Their sound is very similar to Ben Folds who is one of my favorites. There are two different versions of the song and each is good in it's own way. This song was featured on an episode of the O.C. television show last week.

I will be talking about my favorite new song from a group called The Midway State entitled "Unaware". Stay tuned...
Not Everyone Listens to the Radio
This blog is basically a way for me to explain why the music I like the most are the songs that no one has ever heard. Why does everyone wait until they hear a song on the radio to like it? I have never understood this. Everyone likes the same songs at the same time and for this reason those songs are OVERPLAYED. The most terrible thing to happen to good music. I hope to post about a new song every day and explain why it interests me and what it means to me. Stay tuned...
